The Houston Texans have acquired 37-year old WR Derrick Mason from the New York Jets for a conditional 7th round pick.  Mason played in all five games for the Jets this year and he caught 13 passes for 115 yards (8.8 avg).  He has now played in 223 games in his first 15 years in the NFL and he has caught 937 passes for 12,006 yards (12.8 avg) with 66 TD grabs.  This was a good pickup for the Texans as they didn’t get much production out of the WRs last weekend against the Raiders.

The Houston Texans trade DT Travis Johnson to the Chargers

The Texans have traded 27-year old DT Travis Johnson to the Chargers for a conditional sixth round pick.  Johnson played in 15 games (14 starts) for the Texans last season and he made 28 tackles, had 1 sack, defensed 2 passes and forced a fumble.  He played 4 years with the Texans appearing in 54 games (38 starts) in which he made 106 tackles, had 2 sacks, defensed 8 passes, forced a fumble and he intercepted 1 pass.  It seems as if the Chargers got the better end of this deal.
