The Texans have placed 23-year old strong safety Dominique Barber on the Injured Reserve List ending his season due to a hamstring injury.  Barber played in 13 games this season for the Texans and he made 33 tackles, defensed 4 passes and he had 1 interception.  The Texans have re-signed 31-year old safety Brian Russell to replace Barber on the roster.  Russell played in 2 games for the Texans earlier this season making 1 tackle.  He has played in 11 games overall this season with the Jags+Texans in which he has 13 tackles.

The Houston Texans lose TE Anthony Hill for the year

The Texans have lost rookie TE Anthony Hill for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.  Hill played in 5 games for the Texans this season and he caught only 1 pass for 9 yards.  He was a 4th round selection of the Texans last April out of North Carolina State so the team still has high hopes for him in the future.

The Houston Texans lose Steve Slaton for the year

The Texans have lost Steve Slaton for the season due to a neck injury.  Slaton carried the ball 131 times for 437 yards (3.3 ypc) with 3 TD runs this year.  He also caught 44 passes for 417 yards (9.5 avg) with 4 TD grabs this year.  Slaton just wasn’t the same this year for the Texans and they hope an off-season of rest will get him back to the player he was as a rookie last season.

The Houston Texans really need Matt Schaub to stay healthy

Blogged under Bloglockers, General, Injury Reports, Front Page by admin on Tuesday 8 December 2009 at 11:50 pm

Starting QB Matt Schaub dislocated his left shoulder in last week’s game but he came back to finish it.  The Texans had better hope that he can go this week against the Seahawks.  Schaub has started all 12 games for the Texans this season and he has completed 295 of 434 passes (68%) for 3,449 yards with 22 TD passes and 12 INTs (97.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 37 times for 64 yards (1.6 ypc) this season.  The Texans need Schaub to bite the bullet and play with the pain or else they will have to turn to Rex Grossman.  Grossman came into the game when Schaub got hurt last week and he completed 3 of 9 passes (33.3%) for 33 yards with 0 TDs and 1 INT (5.6 QB Rating).  Grossman is not a good fit for a Texans’ offense built around passing the football.

The Houston Texans lose CB Antwaun Molden for the year

The Texans have placed 24-year old CB Antwaun Molden on the Injured Reserve List with a quadriceps injury ending his year.  He played in 4 games for the Texans this season and he had 2 tackles.  In two years with the Texans, Molden has played in 18 games in which he has 22 tackles.  That’s not much of a loss for the Texans.
