Baltimore Ravens 34, Houston Texans 28 in O.T.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Tuesday 14 December 2010 at 2:47 pm

The Texans were down 28-7 after the opening kickoff of the second half when David Reed of the Ravens returned it 103 yards for a TD.  Matt Schaub and the Texans’ D led the team all the way back to tie this game and send it to O.T.  The defense stopped the Ravens on the first possession of O.T., forcing a punt.  Then on the second play of the Texans’ possession, Matt Schaub threw a horrible pass off his back foot which was intercepted and returned 12 yards for a TD which finished off the Texans!

Matt Schaub completed 31 of 62 passes for 393 yards with 3 TD passes and 2 INTs in this game.  Arian Foster was effective, as usual, with 20 carries for 100 yards (5.0 ypc) and 4 catches for 25 yards (6.3 avg).  WR Andre Johnson was incredible in this game with 9 grabs for 140 yards (15.6 avg) with 2 TD grabs, including the game tying TD catch very late in the 4th quarter.  TE Owen Daniels (5 rec, 91 yards), WR Kevin Walter (5 rec, 57 yards) and WR Jacoby Jones (5 rec, 52 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Texans in the passing game.  The Texans finished up with 111 yards rushing on 22 carries (5.0 ypc) and they also completed 31 of 62 passes for 378 yards.

Defensively, the Texans played tough as they didn’t give up a lot of yards last night.  LB Kevin Bentley (11 tackles), LB Brian Cushing (10 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss and 3 QB hits) and safety Bernard Pollard (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) led the way for the D last night.  The Ravens finished up with 63 yards rushing on 24 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 33 passes for 190 yards.  The Texans are now 5-8 on the season.

New York Jets 30, Houston Texans 27

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Friday 26 November 2010 at 4:34 pm

The Texans were down 23-7 with 14:51 left in this game and that’s when the offense went to work putting up 20 straight points to take a 27-23 lead with only 55 seconds left.  But the defense has been awful this year and it was again last Sunday when the Jets went right down the field in 5 plays (72 yards) and scored a TD with 10 seconds left in the game!

Matt Schaub was efficient in this game as he completed 19 of 33 passes for 254 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Arian Foster also came to play in this game with 22 carries for 84 yards (3.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 6 passes for 59 yards (9.8 avg).  Joel Dreessen was the main man in the passing game for the Texans with 4 catches for 106 yards (26.5 avg) with a TD grab.  The Texans finished up with 97 yards rushing on 26 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 33 passes for 246 yards.

The defense was pretty awful in this game for the Texans (once again).  The Jets finished up with 103 yards rushing on 31 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 38 passes for 298 yards.  The Texans are now 4-6 on the season.

Jacksonville Jaguars 31, Houston Texans 24

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 15 November 2010 at 11:01 am

All the Texans had to do was hold the Jaguars out of the end zone to get to O.T.  But, Jags’ QB David Garrard heaved a 50-yard bomb that Texans’ CB Glover Quin batted down (which was what he was supposed to do in that situation) but WR Mike Thomas caught the ball and ran it into the end zone!  What a depressing defeat for the Texans.

Matt Schaub completed 22 of 32 passes for 314 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs yesterday.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 14 yards (4.7 ypc) in this game.  Arian Foster carried the ball 15 times for 56 yards (3.7 ypc) with a TD run yesterday.  Derrick Ward pitched in with 11 yards rushing on 3 carries (3.7 ypc).  WRs Andre Johnson (9 rec, 146 yards, TD) and Kevin Walter (6 rec, 90 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Texans yesterday.  The Texans finished up with 81 yards rushing on 21 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 32 passes for 314 yards despite only having possession of the football for 24:37.

CB Glover Quin (13 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed), LB Brian Cushing (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) and LB Zac Diles (8 tackles) led the way for the Texans’ D yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 165 yards rushing on 36 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 31 passes for 326 yards.  The Texans are now 4-5 on the season as it’s going south very quickly.

San Diego Chargers 29, Houston Texans 23

The Texans had a good gameplan but the Chargers made more big plays than they did.  Matt Schaub was solid yesterday as he completed 21 of 32 passes for 266 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  Arian Foster certainly did his part as he carried the ball 27 times for 127 yards (4.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 4 passes for 70 yards (17.5 avg).  TEs Joel Dreessen (5 rec, 66 yards) and James Casey (4 rec, 48 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Texans yesterday.  WRs Andre Johnson (4 rec, 41 yards) and Jacoby Jones (4 rec, 43 yards) also helped out on offense for the Texans yesterday.  The Texans finished up with 140 yards rushing on 34 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 32 passes for 251 yards as they had possession of the ball for 33:49.

Safety Bernard Pollard (9 tackles) and LB Zac Diles (8 tackles) led the way for the Texans on D in this game.  CB Kareem Jackson was burned multiple times in this game by the Chargers but he still finished up with six tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  CB Glover Quin pitched in with a fumble recovery in this game.  The Chargers finished up with 77 yards rushing on 26 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 23 passes for 290 yards.  The Texans are now 4-4 on the year.

The Colts hogged the ball in this game and the Texans made a big mistake or two offensively that cost them this game.  Matt Schaub completed 22 of 38 passes for 201 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT (his interception was returned 25 yards for a TD by Colts’ CB Kelvin Hayden).  Arian Foster carried the ball 15 times for 102 yards (6.8 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 9 passes for 65 yards (7.2 avg) tonight.  Andre Johnson led the way in the passing game for the Texans tonight with 7 grabs for 106 yards (15.1 avg) with a TD grab.  The Texans finished up with 108 yards rushing on 18 carries (6.0 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 38 passes for 183 yards despite only having possession of the ball for 23:35 tonight.

The defense played pretty bad as usual for the Texans tonight.  LB Zac Diles (11 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss), safety Bernard Pollard (8 tackles) and CB Glover Quin (7 tackles) led the way for the D tonight.  The Colts finished up with 107 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 45 passes for 259 yards.  The Texans are now 4-3 on the year.
