Houston Texans 30, Cleveland Browns 12

The Texans pushed the Cleveland Browns around on both sides of the field yesterday.  Matt Schaub was in game manager mode as he completed 14 of 23 passes for 119 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 0 yards (0.0 ypc) with 1 TD run in this game.  Arian Foster was electric yesterday as he carried the ball 19 times for 124 yards (6.5 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 5 passes for 26 yards (5.2 avg).  Ben Tate was even better as he carried the ball 12 times for 115 yards (9.6 ypc) with 1 TD run in this game.  The Texans finished up with 261 yards rushing on 40 carries (6.5 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 23 passes (60.9%) for 119 yards as they had possession of the ball for 35:15.

The defense was out of this world for the Texans yesterday.  LB Brian Cushing (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit), safety Glover Quin (6 tackles), CB Kareem Jackson (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 passes defensed) and OLB Brooks Reed (5 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 3 QB hits) led the way on D yesterday.  DE J.J. Watt (fumble recovery) and safety Quintin Demps (interception) also made big plays for the Texans’ D in this game.  The Browns finished up with 44 yards rushing on 21 carries (2.1 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 22 passes (63.6%) for 128 yards.  The Texans are now 6-3 on the season.

Houston Texans 24, Jacksonville Jaguars 14

The Texans pushed the Jaguars around yesterday on both sides of the ball.  Matt Schaub was solid as he completed 16 of 30 passes for 225 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards and it went for a TD.  Arian Foster led the way on the ground for the Texans in this game with 33 carries for 112 yards (3.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 1 pass for 12 yards.  Ben Tate carried the ball 5 times for 42 yards (8.4 ypc) but he lost a fumble.  WR Kevin Walter (5 rec, 70 yards) and TEs Owen Daniels (4 rec, 60 yards) and Joel Dreessen (2 rec, 19 yards, TD) led the way for the Texans in the passing game.  The Texans finished up with 156 yards rushing on 39 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 30 passes (53.3%) for 202 yards as they had possession of the ball for 35:19.

The defense was outstanding for the Texans yesterday.  LB Brian Cushing led the way for the Texans in this game with 7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit and 1 interception.  Safety Troy Nolan (5 tackles), DE J.J. Watt (5 tackles) and CB Jason Allen (2 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) also pitched in for the Texans.  The Jaguars finished up with 84 yards rushing on 25 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 10 of 32 passes (31.3%) for 90 yards.  The Texans are now 5-3 on the season.

Houston Texans 41, Tennessee Titans 7

The Houston Texans went into Nashville and they destroyed the Titans on their own field!  Matt Schaub was very effective yesterday as he completed 18 of 23 passes for 296 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Arian Foster was awesome for the Texans in this game!  He carried the ball 25 times for 115 yards (4.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 5 passes for 119 yards (23.8 avg) with 1 TD grab yesterday.  Ben Tate also was very effective on the ground as he rushed for 104 yards on 15 carries (6.9 ypc).  TEs Owen Daniels (4 rec, 71 yards) and Joel Dreessen (2 rec, 31 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Texans.  The Texans finished up with 222 yards rushing on 47 carries (4.7 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 23 passes (78.3%) for 296 yards as they had possession of the ball for 37:58.

The defense was electric for the Texans yesterday.  LBs Brian Cushing (6 tackles) and Brooks Reed (4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Texans in this game.  DE J.J. Watt (3 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) and CB Jonathan Joseph (3 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 passes defensed) also had solid games for the Texans yesterday.  CB Brice McCain (interception that he returned 38 yards for a TD) and safety Danieal Manning (interception) also made big plays for the Texans in this game.  The Titans finished up with 53 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 31 passes (48.4%) for 95 yards in this game.  The Texans are now back in first place in the AFC South with a 4-3 record.

Baltimore Ravens 29, Houston Texans 14

The Houston Texans got off to a solid start in this game before folding up the tent as the Ravens scored the last 16 points of the game.  Matt Schaub completed 21 of 37 passes for 220 yards with 1 TD pass and o INTs.  Arian Foster had a rough time finding running room as he only rushed for 49 yards on 15 carries (3.3 ypc).  Foster also caught 6 passes for 52 yards (8.7 avg) in this game.  Ben Tate rushed for 41 yards on 9 carries (4.6 ypc) but he lost a fumble in the end zone which Texans’ OT Wade Smith recovered for a TD.  WR Jacoby Jones led the way for the Texans in this game with 76 yards receiving on 4 grabs (19.0 avg) with 1 TD catch.  WR Kevin Walter (6 rec, 52 yards) and WR Derrick Mason (3 rec, 27 yards) also pitched in for the Texans in this game.  The Texans finished up with 93 yards rushing on 25 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 37 passes (56.8%) for 200 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:48.

The Texans didn’t play too well defensively in this game.  Safeties Danieal Manning (11 tackles) and Glover Quin (7 tackles) led the way for the Texans’ D in this game.  CB Jonathan Joseph (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and DE Tim Jamison (2 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 sacks, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) also pitched in for the Texans in this game.  The Ravens finished up with 113 yards on 30 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 33 passes (60.6%) for 289 yards.  The Texans are now 3-3 on the year.

Oakland Raiders 25, Houston Texans 20

The Houston Texans had a lot of yards today, but they had problems putting points on the board and it killed them in the end.  Matt Schaub completed 24 of 51 passes for 416 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs.  Arian Foster rushed for 68 yards on 22 carries (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 116 yards (23.2 avg) in this game.  TE Joel Dreessen (5 rec, 112 yards, TD), TE Owen Daniels (7 rec, 89 yards) and WR Kevin Walter (5 rec, 81 yards, TD) led the way for the Texans in the passing game today.  The Texans finished up with 70 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.8 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 51 passes (47.1%) for 403 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:25.

The defense gave up some big plays in this game and it killed them.  CB Jason Allen (10 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) and LB Brian Cushing (8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Texans on D in this game.  The Raiders finished up with 94 yards rushing on 22 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 35 passes (42.9%) for 184 yards.  The Texans are now 3-2 on the season after this very disappointing loss.

Houston Texans 17, Pittsburgh Steelers 10

The Texans finally got a signature win by beating up on the Steelers physically and mentally all day long.  Matt Schaub was a game manager and little more in this game as he completed 14 of 21 passes for 138 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Arian Foster returned to his featured role in the running game and he exploded for 155 yards rushing on 30 carries (5.2 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 3 passes for 11 yards (3.7 avg) in this game.  Ben Tate pitched in with 2 carries for 20 yards (10.0 ypc) in this contest.  TE Owen Daniels (5 rec, 69 yards, TD) and WR Andre Johnson (4 rec, 36 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Texans today.  The Texans finished up with 180 yards rushing on 35 carries (5.1 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 21 passes (66.7%) for 138 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:43.

The defense was outstanding for the Texans as they beat the hell out of Ben Roethlisberger as they sacked him 5 times and hit him a lot more.  CB Jason Allen led the way for the Texans on D in this game with 7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception.  LB Brian Cushing (6 tackles and 1 QB hit) and safety Danieal Manning (5 tackles, 1 QB hit and 1 fumble recovery) also had solid games. OLB Mario Williams had his best game of the year so far with 5 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 QB hits.  The Steelers finished up with 118 yards rushing on 22 carries (5.4 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 30 passes (53.3%) for 178 yards.  The Texans are now 3-1 on the year.

New Orleans Saints 40, Houston Texans 33

The Saints scored 23 points in the 4th quarter as the defense of the Texans collapsed when they really needed to step up.  Matt Schaub did his part for the Texans as he completed 22 of 39 passes for 373 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 INT.  Ben Tate got another start at RB and he was solid as he carried the ball 19 times for 82 yards (4.3 ypc).  FB James Casey carried the ball 1 time for 11 yards and he also caught 5 passes for 126 yards (25.2 avg) with 1 TD grab in the best game of his NFL career so far.  WR Andre Johnson (7 rec, 128 yards), TE Owen Daniels (5 rec, 76 yards, TD) and WR Kevin Walter (3 rec, 35 yards, TD) had solid games for the Texans also.  The Texans finished up with 109 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 39 passes (56.4%) for 364 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:06.

The Texans’ defense was solid for three quarters and awful in the 4th quarter, which cost them this game.  CB Kareem Jackson (8 tackles), safety Glover Quin (8 tackles) and LB Demeco Ryans (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed) led the way for the Texans in this game.  DE J.J. Watt was also effective in this game as he finished up with 4 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  Safety Danieal Manning and CB Jonathan Joseph each pitched in with 1 interception apiece in this game.  The Saints finished up with 100 yards rushing on 22 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 31 of 44 passes (70.5%) for 354 yards.  The Texans are now 2-1 on the year.

Houston Texans 23, Miami Dolphins 13

The Texans knocked off the Fins in Miami yesterday but it wasn’t easy.  Matt Schaub was very efficient in this game as he completed 21 of 29 passes for 230 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Ben Tate led the way on the ground for the Texans in this game with 103 yards rushing on 23 carries (4.5 ypc).  He also caught 4 passes for 32 yards (8.0 avg).  Arian Foster started at RB and he carried the ball 10 times for 33 yards (3.3 ypc) and caught 2 passes for 7 yards (3.5 avg) before leaving the game because his hamstring was barking.  WR Andre Johnson led the way in the passing game for the Texans yesterday with 7 grabs for 93 yards (13.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WR Jacoby Jones (3 rec, 48 yards) and TE Owen Daniels (3 rec, 25 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Texans in this game.  The Texans finished up with 138 yards rushing on 36 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 29 passes (72.4%) for 207 yards as they had possession of the ball for 34:06.

The defense had issues stopping the running game of the Dolphins yesterday, but they were awesome against the pass.  LB Brian Cushing led the way for the Texans with 10 tackles and 1 QB hit.  Safety Danieal Manning had 7 tackles and he returned 2 kickoffs for 77 yards (38.5 avg) in this game.  CB Jonathan Joseph (4 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception) and safety Glover Quin (4 tackles and 1 fumble recovery) also pitched in for the Texans on D.  The Dolphins finished up with 153 yards rushing on 28 carries (5.5 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 30 passes (40%) for 153 yards.  The Texans are now 2-0 on the season.

Houston Texans 34, Indianapolis Colts 7

The Texans totally destroyed the Colts today and it was beautiful to see.  The Texans raced out to a 34-0 lead at the half before essentially calling off the dogs.  Matt Schaub was not at his best as he completed 17 of 24 passes for 220 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  Ben Tate got the start in the place of the injured Arian Foster (hamstring) and he played well.  Tate carried the ball 24 times for 116 yards (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD run today.  Derrick Ward pitched in with 39 yards rushing on 11 carries (3.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Andre Johnson led the way in the passing game for the Texans as he caught 7 passes for 95 yards (13.6 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Jacoby Jones caught 3 passes for 43 yards (14.3 avg) and he also returned 3 punts for 91 yards (30.3 avg).  One of Jones’ punt returns went for a 79-yard TD.  The Texans rushed for 167 yards on 41 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 24 passes (70.8%) for 217 yards as they had possession of the ball for 36:44.

The new look defense of the Texans looked awesome today!  LBs Brian Cushing (7 tackles) and Demeco Ryans (6 tackles) led the way for the D today.  Mario Williams was outstanding in his first start at outside linebacker for the Texans and he had 2 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 QB hits.  Rookie DE J.J. Watt was impressive today with 5 tackles and 1 fumble recovery.  DT Shaun Cody pitched in with a fumble recovery also.  The Colts finished up with 64 yards rushing on 16 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 31 passes (51.6%) for 172 yards.  The Texans have started the 2011 season out with a 1-0 record.

The Houston Texans blasted the Jaguars’ defense yesterday!  Matt Schaub was very solid in this game as he completed 18 of 22 passes for 253 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Arian Foster was awesome as he carried the ball 31 times for 180 yards (5.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 2 passes for 10 yards in this game.  Derrick Ward also had a great game with 63 yards rushing on only 4 carries (15.8 ypc) with a TD run.  WR Jacoby Jones (5 rec, 70 yards), TE Owen Daniels (5 rec, 62 yards, TD) and WR Kevin Walter (3 rec, 54 yards) led the way for the Texans in the passing game.  The Texans finished up with 244 yards rushing on 37 carries (6.6 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 22 passes for 253 yards.

The Texans’ D played great against the pass but not so hot against the run yesterday.  Safety Eugene Wilson (10 tackles), LB Xavier Adibi (8 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss) and safety Troy Nolan (7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed, 1 QB hit, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception) had solid games for the Texans yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 198 yards rushing on 35 carries (5.7 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 25 passes for 124 yards.  The Texans finished up tied with the Titans with a 6-10 record for third place in the AFC South.
