Gary Kubiak is doing a good job for the Houston Texans

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 17 January 2008 at 7:39 am

Gary Kubiak has done a great job with the Texans as he led them to a 8-8 record which was the first time in team history that the Texans won as many games as they lost.  Kubiak now has a 14-18 (.438 %) record in his two seasons with the Texans.  Kubiak did this by improving the teams offense and defense.  The problem is the Texans currently play in the best division in football (AFC South) so it still will be hard to make the playoffs in 2008.

The Texans came into this season with question marks about their QBs but they both played well inspiring confidence in the future.  Matt Schaub is the starter but he missed some time at the end of the season due to injury.  Schaub played in 11 games last season for the Texans and he completed 192 of 289 passes (66.4%) for 2,241 yards with 9 TD passes and 9 interceptions (87.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 17 times for 52 yards (3.1 ypc).  Schaub has now played in 49 games in his NFL career and he has completed 276 of 450 passes (61.3%) for 3,274 yards with 15 TD passes and 15 interceptions (80.7 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 41 times for 175 yards (4.3 ypc).

Sage Rosenfels had not played too much in his NFL career until this year and he proved that he definately belongs.  Rosenfels played in 9 games this season for the Texans and he completed 154 of 240 passes (64.2%) for 1,684 yards with 15 TD passes and 12 interceptions (84.8 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 21 times for 51 yards (2.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Rosenfels has now played in 26 games in his NFL career and he has completed 235 of 388 passes (60.6%) for 2,725 yards with 24 TD passes and 19 interceptions (82.0 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 34 times for 61 yards (1.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.

The Texans got a nice win on Sunday to improve to 8-8 on the season which is the best record in franchise history.  Andre’ Davis was the star of the game for the Texans as he returned 5 kickoffs for 234 yards (46.8 avg) including two TDs covering 97 yards and 104 yards.  All Sage Rosenfels had to do was manage the game as he completed 11 of 18 passes for 128 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Ron Dayne led the Texans in rushing with 88 yards on 21 carries (4.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  But, rookie Darius Walker also had an outstanding game as he rushed for 86 yards on 10 carries (8.6 ypc) with a TD run.  Andre Johnson led the way in the passing game for the Texans with 74 yards receiving on 6 catches (12.3 avg).  The Texans finished with 170 yards rushing on 34 carries (5.0 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 18 passes for 120 yards.

Linebackers Charlie Anderson (9 tackles, 2 sacks) and Morlon Greenwood (9 tackles) led the way for the Texans defense.  The Jags finished with 96 yards rushing on 23 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 39 passes for 285 yards.
