The Texans have re-signed cornerback Dexter MeCleon, WR Drew Anderson, OT Scott Jackson, TE Ben Steele and defensive linemen Earl Cochrane, Tim Bulman, Anthony Maddox and Alfred Malone. The offensive players that the Texans re-signed were basically just depth moves. WR Drew Anderson played in 9 games last season but he only caught 1 pass for 27 yards. He also has returned 3 kickoffs for 90 yards. OT Scott Jackson has been in the NFL for two seasons now and has never played a down in a real game. TE Ben Steele didn’t play last season. Steele has three years of NFL experience and he’s caught 4 passes for 42 yards (10.5 avg) in 17 career games.
CB Dexter McCleon and DL Anthony Maddox are important reserves for the Texans, while the others they re-signed was for depth reasons. McCleon played in all 16 games for the Texans last season and he made 28 tackles, had an interception and forced a fumble. Anthony Maddox played in 12 games for the Texans last season and he made 37 tackles, had 2 sacks, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble that he returned 47 yards for a TD. Earl Cochrane only played in 1 game for the Texans last season and he made 2 tackles. Alfred Malone played in 2 games for the Texans and he made 2 tackles and had a 1/2 sack. Tim Bulman didn’t play a down last season for the Texans but he’s played in 8 games in his NFL career and has 7 tackles and he’s defensed a pass.
