The Houston Texans re-sign LB Charlie Anderson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Tuesday 24 April 2007 at 9:17 pm

The Texans have re-signed Charlie Anderson to a 1-year contract.  He played in 13 games last season for the Texans and he made 16 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  Over his three year NFL career he has played in 44 games and he has made 47 tackles, defensed 3 passes and recovered 2 fumbles (one of which he returned 60 yards for a TD).  Anderson is a decent reserve linebacker and special teams player.

The Houston Texans re-sign LB Shante Orr

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Monday 23 April 2007 at 1:58 pm

The Texans have re-signed Shante Orr to a 1-year contract.  He played in all 16 games last season for the Texans and he made 32 tackles, had 1.5 sacks, defensed a pass and recovered a fumble.  He is a solid reserve linebacker for the Texans and this was a good signing.

The Houston Texans are on the clock………….

I have conducted a complete 7 round draft for every team in the NFL.  If you want to see what I have projected for any other team in the NFL, click on the team name in the right hand margin and go to the team’s Draft Report page if you don’t see the article on the front page of the site.  This was a lot of work so I hope you enjoy it.

The Texans will be looking at their board for best value and that will lead them to draft these players later this month:

1. (10)  Leon Hall, CB, Michigan

3. (73)  Chansi Stuckey, WR, Clemson

4. (107)  Kevin Kolb, QB, Houston

5. (144)  Adam Koets, OT, Oregon State

6. (183)  Dan Santucci, OG, Notre Dame

7. (218)  David Bale, WR, New Hampshire

Leon Hall and Chansi Stuckey should be starters from Day #1 for the Texans.  The pick of Kolb helps guard against Matt Schaub not being the real deal.

The Houston Texans sign WR Andre Davis

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Saturday 14 April 2007 at 12:22 pm

The Texans have signed WR Andre Davis to a 1-year contract.  He played in all 16 games for the Buffalo Bills last season and he caught 2 passes for 13 yards (6.5 avg).  He also returned 6 kickoffs for 99 yards (16.5 avg).  He will provide the Texans with a #4 or #5 WR that can help out on special teams.

The Houston Texans re-sign Samkon Gado

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 9:58 am

The Texans have re-signed Samkon Gado.  Gado played in 9 games (1 start) and he carried the ball 56 times for 210 yards (3.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 17 passes for 85 yards (5.0 avg).  He’s likely #3 in line for carries behind Ahman Green and Ron Dayne.  That gives the Texans great depth at the running back position.

The Houston Texans have re-signed DB Von Hutchins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Wednesday 11 April 2007 at 12:32 am

The Texans have signed Hutchins to a 1-year contract.  He only played in 3 games for the Texans last season and he made 5 tackles.  This was just a depth signing for the Texans as he will be a backup DB and Special Teams player next season.

The Houston Texans sign CB Jamar Fletcher

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Friday 6 April 2007 at 12:23 pm

The Texans have signed Fletcher to a 2 year, $2.3 million dollar contract.  He played in 13 games last season for the Detroit Lions and he made 37 tackles, had 3 interceptions (he returned 1 of them for a TD), defensed 3 passes and recovered a fumble.  The Texans have needed a playmaker in the defensive secondary for a long time and Fletcher could be that guy.

The Houston Texans re-sign 8 players for next season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by dawgpounded on Thursday 5 April 2007 at 1:28 pm

The Texans have re-signed cornerback Dexter MeCleon, WR Drew Anderson, OT Scott Jackson, TE Ben Steele and defensive linemen Earl Cochrane, Tim Bulman, Anthony Maddox and Alfred Malone.  The offensive players that the Texans re-signed were basically just depth moves.  WR Drew Anderson played in 9 games last season but he only caught 1 pass for 27 yards.  He also has returned 3 kickoffs for 90 yards.  OT Scott Jackson has been in the NFL for two seasons now and has never played a down in a real game.  TE Ben Steele didn’t play last season.  Steele has three years of NFL experience and he’s caught 4 passes for 42 yards (10.5 avg) in 17 career games.

CB Dexter McCleon and DL Anthony Maddox are important reserves for the Texans, while the others they re-signed was for depth reasons.  McCleon played in all 16 games for the Texans last season and he made 28 tackles, had an interception and forced a fumble.  Anthony Maddox played in 12 games for the Texans last season and he made 37 tackles, had 2 sacks, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble that he returned 47 yards for a TD.  Earl Cochrane only played in 1 game for the Texans last season and he made 2 tackles.  Alfred Malone played in 2 games for the Texans and he made 2 tackles and had a 1/2 sack.  Tim Bulman didn’t play a down last season for the Texans but he’s played in 8 games in his NFL career and has 7 tackles and he’s defensed a pass.
