The Houston Texans make a huge trade with the Atlanta Falcons to bring in QB Matt Schaub
The Houston Texans acquired QB Matt Schaub and the #10 pick in the first round of this year’s draft and traded their #8 pick in the first round plus their 2nd round picks in both 2007+2008 to the Atlanta Falcons. This ended David Carr’s career in Houston as the Texans decided to go in a different direction at the QB position. Schaub is an unproven player at the NFL level so the Texans are taking a big chance on Schaub because he didn’t come cheaply. In 2006 Schaub only threw 27 passes and he completed 18 of them (66.7%) for 208 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions (QB Rating 71.2). He also carried the ball 7 times for 21 yards (3.0 ypc). Over Schaub’s career he has completed 84 of 161 passes (52.2%) for 1,033 yards with 6 TD passes and 6 interceptions (69.2 QB Rating). He also has carried the football 24 times for 123 yards (5.1 ypc). Schaub definately has the talent to be a starting QB in the NFL, but will he be a good one? One time will tell. The Texans better hope he is because they paid a large price for him.
