Houston Texans vs. New York Jets

The Texans have been playing better as of late, as their last four games have been decided by 6 or less points (one win).  The Jets are sitting at 5-5 and have a shot at making the playoffs if they can get hot.

Look for the Texans to come out running the ball with Wali Lundy (404 yards rushing) and Samkon Gado (213 yards rushing) at the Jets run defense which is allowing 146.2 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry.  The Texans will then attack the Jets secondary which is allowing 207.2 net yards passing per game.  David Carr has played pretty well so far this season, and his receivers should be able to have big games as long as the Texans line gives him enough time to throw.  Andre Johnson (74 rec, 884 yards) and Eric Moulds will have a huge advantage over the Jets corners.

The Jets will probably come out running the ball with one of their backs.  Coach Mangini has been rotating the backs so it’s hard to figure out which one will get the ball.  The Texans allow 125.2 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry, so the Jets will no doubt attempt to run the ball.  Chad Pennington has had a rough time throwing the ball lately, but the Texans have a horrible pass defense.  The Texans allow 226.9 net yards passing per game.

This game should be higher scoring than it looks like it will be on paper.  I think the Texans have more talent, but the Jets have been very lucky this season.

This is really getting old. I was an Oilers fan since childhood, and when they left, I was very disappointed. I waited and waited for Houston to get a new team. I have watched and supported the Texans since day one. But this is REDICULOUS. These guys really suck. I am tired of looking to Sunday’s game all week, only to see Houston get killed, or beaten at the last second. I think it’s finally time to throw my support to the Cowboys.

I wouldn’t jump shit yet John. I now that the final result has stunk so far, but I see alot of things improving on the Texans. I think that David Carr is playing better than ever, as the line is blocking better for him. I also think that the defense is starting to improve with the youth that’s been injected into the unit (Demeco Ryans and Mario Williams).
Give Coach Kubiak one more season and I think you’ll be surprised at the results.
