Texans vs. Redskins

Both of these teams are 0-2 and have played rough schedules so far.

The Redskins would love to run Clinton Portis at the Texans’ defense as long as he can handle it with his bad shoulder.  If he can’t, Mark Brunell should be able to pick the Texans defense apart.  WRs Randle El and Brandon Lloyd need to start earning their money for the Redskins and this looks like where they can start doing that.  Santana Moss should be able to get deep on the Texans without much resistance.  Also, look for Brunell to get TE Chris Cooley more involved in the offense as he only has three catches for 20 yards this season.

The Texans are in deep trouble along their offensive line.  LT Charles Spencer is out for the season and starting C Mike Flanagan may be unavailable due to a foot injury.  David Carr could literally be running for his life as he has already been sacked 9 times this season.  If the Texans could somehow get their running game going they could slow the pass rush and give Carr a chance to get the ball to his talented receiving corps.  WRs Andre Johnson and Eric Moulds could have success against the Redskins corners.

I think the Redskins will wake up and win this game, but it will be close.

I know you don’t want to hear this Willie, but it’s gonna take some time. Coach Kubiak and David Carr are probably the right guys, but this team is in bad shape now. Hang in there.
